Overheard in Target

I was at Target the other day and watched the following conversation go down right outside the 50% off Easter clearance aisle:

A new mom & her mother were both pushing Target carts, each with an infant carrier inside. I assumed the carriers were carrying twins, smiled to myself, and went about my business of purchasing chocolate bunnies to quell 11pm chocolate cravings. At about the same time I was debating milk chocolate vs crispy chocolate, an older woman approached the new mom and asked to peek inside at the newborn. The following conversation took place:

Older Woman: ::small talk, small talk:: May I see your baby?
New Mom: Of course! (smiles, thrilled to show off her tiny infant) And his sister is over there! (gestures to the other cart)
Older Woman: Oh, twins?!
New Mom: Yes, a boy and a girl.
Older Woman: That's the best kind to have - one pregnancy and done! You don't have to worry about wishing for the "other kind"!
New Mom: Um, yes! (totally weirded out)
Older Woman: My daughter-in-law just had triplets, but she wasn't as lucky (major sad face). She got all girls.

At that point I had to walk away, so I'm not sure how the end of that conversation went.  Old people are crazy... but I'm going to end my post with that and not about how I feel terrible for this lady's daughter-in-law to have ended up with her for a mother-in-law.
