Question

Say you had to miss a wedding, but you sent a card and a gift (which was a check).

And you know it was received.

But, 4 months later, the check hasn't been cashed, nor have you received a thank you card.

What do you do?

I had some contact me about a non- cashed check. I would ask them about it. It might have gotten mixed up with some of their wedding cards.

I would definitely ask! All you have to say is that you gave them a check for their wedding and while going through your online banking/check book you noticed it hadn't been cashed and just want to make sure they get their money! They may have left it in the card and put it aside or something and forgot there was a check in it. I think I may have actually done that once or twice in my life! They'll appreciate it if that happened to be the case.

I'll admit, I'm horrible about cashing checks. (I'm great about sending thank you cards, though.) I've gotten checks from family members and put them aside to take to the bank and then forgotten. Then, months later, I've stumbled upon it and been like, "Oh yeaaaah.." but because I'm so embarrassed that I'm an asshat, I never cash it.

Maybe they just forgot to cash it and mail a thank you card and now they feel like it's too late to do it. :/

I think that you could easily just ask...I found a gift card that we had opened and then accidentally placed in the "already sent thank you cards for" pile almost a year after we got married. I immediately sent them a thank you note...and made sure to tell them that I was a little silly for misplacing the item in the first place. That way they didn't think that I was just the weird girl who waits until the last possible moment to send out thank yous...

Just ask...they'll understand.

Because it is a check that wasn't cashed...I'd ask about it. I probably wouldn't if it had been a vase, dishes etc. I would just assume they didn't write a note (which ticks me off). Since the check has not been cashed...I'd make the call.
