Daddy's Girl

We're watching the US v Ghana World Cup game.

Ryan has never played a day of soccer in his life, but he is enthralled (much like everyone in America who only watch soccer on tv every 4 years). I usually sit on the couch next to him and read through blogs or Weddingbee.

Today, though, he is full of questions:

When can the goalie pick up the ball and punt it? What is that big box for? Why don't the players wear high top cleats? Why did that guy get a yellow card; I thought slide tackes were legal?

Having played enough soccer to appropriately answer, I explain a variety of things happening on the field. I remark that his interest in the game is sort of funny.

He then tells me "I need to know these things so that when I'm coaching girls soccer in 5 years, I know what I'm doing."

And then I died, because that is the most adorable thing I have ever heard in my life.
