Time Flies

... when your belly is stretching. I was reading this month's issue of Pregnancy & Newborn (thank you, OB office) and one of the articles specifically mentioned this YouTube video:

Crazytown.

My little 13 week bump is mostly due to the PopTarts (the only thing that get me though the regular 9am nausea) I've been consuming with alarming frequency, since Baby is the size of a Jumbo shrimp at this point. HOWEVER, it is a nice little bump and I'll admit to wearing tight shirts specifically so I can see it. And so you can see it, too.

According to my home scale (the scale from which I will be deriving official weight gain), I've put on 4 lbs in the first trimester, which is totally normal. According to the doctor's office scale (which was constructed by the devil) it's a lot more.

Now here's the thing: my awesome pre-pregnancy weight was taken on the morning of a WW meeting, which meant I hadn't eaten for 8 hours and was wearing next to nothing while on the scale. Of course, yesterday's weight at the doctor's office was taken at 3:45 in the afternoon, post-lunch and HUGE bottle of water to ensure a pee sample, in shoes and jeans. The weight the scale showed at the doctor's office was about 4 pounds heavier than I weighed that morning directly before my shower....... so maybe the "lay off the snacks" talk I got wasn't reeeeeally warranted. I'm just saying.

That being said, there is much Tummy Butter in my future...

A word to the wise: the Tummy Butter does not feel like actual butter. It's a little gritty and semi-hard to rub in. They may want to rethink the name on that one. Also, I find the word "tummy" to be really creepy. Like, "panties"-style creepy. Maybe we just call it "$9 Belly Cream That Probably Won't Do Shit But Will Keep Future Stretchies Hydrated"? It's a working title.

PS - THANK YOU to everyone who left me such sweet comments on Friday's post!!

I am using the same tummy butter, it gets softer as you get past the top layers. It drove me nuts at first too!
