Get a calendar (we got the one pictured above), write down our weekly schedules, and make a meal plan.
Easy right? I hope. I bought the Post-It Weekly Planner at Staples for $17 this weekend, and its been sitting on my kitchen table just waiting for me to jot down late nights at work and what's for dinner. Secretly I'm thrilled to finally start planning meals in advance and do one big shopping trip at the begining of the week - we run to the grocery store almost every other night, which wastes a lot of time and money. I'm going to get everything together and start next week... I'll let you know how the planning goes.
As for the budget situation, I'm testing out two Excel spread sheets and will report back at the end of September!

I will be very intersted to hear how you like your calender. I have been searching for a large one to hang up for both of us to use as a reference but I have yet to find something that works. And meal planning is the best. I did it for a number of years (back when we actually had a kitchen!) and I'd plan a month in advance. We would do one big grocery run each month and then stop at a small produce stand every other week to supplement on the fresh stuff that wouldn't last the whole month (lettuce, etc.) Sigh, it saved us so much money and we used to eat such a larger variety of meals! Now it's that dreaded question of what are we having for dinner...
i like the calendar!
