Makeup makes me happy

Even though I totally have no idea when it comes to how to apply eyeshadow. My normal routine is slap on some under-eye concealer, draw on dark brown eyeliner, curl up the lashes, and swipe on a few coats of extra black mascara. I have it down to 5 minutes because that's how I roll these days.

I can't even tell you the last time I dried my hair. Maybe March? Some days it's a wet pony, and some days it's a wet braid. I'd rather get 20 minutes of snuggle time with the babe in the morning than tackle a blowdryer. At least I don't have an office job :-) And THANK GOD I didn't succumb to the "mom hair" that is chin length and thus "so much easier in the morning". Short hair, on me, requires a blow out every single day, whereas with long hair it's just up and out of my face. It's not stylish and I certainly don't think I look good.... but it's quick and easy and that's what I'm about these days: spending the maximum amount of time with my kid every day.

The point of this? I need makeup that is quick and easy. I have a random assortment of stuff that I use, but I always start with the Miracle Set by MaryKay. I totally love it and I just saw Molly's blog post over at Stilettos & Diapers about her giveaway and review of a bunch of different MaryKay products!!! Check out her review and enter for a chance to win $100 worth of beauty products. Let her know I sent you :-)

LOL I know you haven't updated in a while but I checked on here anyway and you made a post finally!

Makeup (also hair dye) is pretty much my favorite thing. Any makeup can be quick and easy if you do it enough. For quick eyeshadow, try one of those palettes that has a few shades. My new go to palette is the one Almay makes for brown eyes. There are a few different ones, I have a natural day time one and an intense one (that I still wear during the day time) that tell you how to put it on. If you get a couple of those and get comfortable with knowing where the different shades go on your eye, you'll start mixing and matching colors in no time. If you really want to burn some money, Too Faced makes nice (also expensive at $35) palettes. I have the Natural Eye and the Naked Eye ones.

Good brushes are important too so the makeup goes on right. Also, to make it last you should get an eyelid primer too. Go to Sephora and ask for samples. My favorite is the Too Faced Shadow Insurance ($18). They have one called Lemon Drop that is color correcting that I want to try. Urban Decay makes a realllly good one too ($19).

Also, I agree with the YouTube-ing of makeup tutorials online. That's where I learned how to do my GaGa makeup lol.

Practice makes perfect :-)

I also wanted to point out that you don't really need to wear makeup. You have good skin and big eyes (lucky Lily who obvs inherited them) but it's fun to play around with anyway :-)

I am with you on the wet pony look. I know it's not my best look but most days I just don't care! I did the mom chop though and so am stuck with a million bobby pins to keep it back. I wish it would grow but all it wants to do is FALL OUT!
