6 Months

This little face makes me happy every single day.

Baby Bear turned 6 months old last week and I can't believe how big she has grown! She's up to 17 lbs, 11 oz and is now 26.75 inches long!! For comparison, she was 8 lbs, 13 oz and 21 inches at birth. My big girl.

She started trying to sit right around 5 months, had it down pretty good by 5.5 months, and has finally mastered it at 6 months. She can sit for a pretty long time by herself, and has started scooting her butt around. She only falls when she throws her hands up in the air (like when she sees the dog) and has the awareness to tighten her abs on the way down to prevent her head from hitting first. I don't think she's ever cried after tipping over.

This baby loves her puppy!! Her eyes light up when she sees Marley and if she's close enough, Baby Bear grabs fistfulls of dog fur. Marley doesn't seem to mind. I think she's just happy for the attention!

We started solids 10 days before she turned 6 months old, and so far she's had bananas, sweet potatoes, green beans, and today I gave her a bit of organic baby oatmeal. I think sweet potatoes are her favorite, and she really didn't like the green beans at first. Yesterday she ate a full 2 tablespoons though, so we'll see. This weekend I want to try apples or pears - I guess whatever looks good at the grocery store!

I still wanted to do a quick post on juggling work & daycare & Baby (oh, and husband - let's not forget him), and a few other things, but my blogging time is really minimal these days. I try to get on the computer only after Baby Bear goes to sleep, but I know I should be washing bottles, getting ready for the next day, or spending some time talking to Ryan without our faces glued to the computer/tv screens.... I do try to keep a running list of things Baby Bear is doing so that I have a nice list for her baby book, though. I wish I had more time for that!! I'm actually at home right now, and Baby Bear is sleeping, so I'm going to see how much of the baby book I can update before she wakes up.
