So last night I spent some time researching local getaways in Virginia (since we haven't really been there) and every Bed & Breakfast had a "Babymoon" package. After reading through a few of those descriptions, I was totally on board. The gist of the babymoon is it's your "last chance" vacation for just the two of you to reconnect before baby arrives. Think romantic rooms, quiet evening strolls, and expensive dinners where you wouldn't take an infant. Sold.
Except I'm not going on real vacation in Virginia (sorry to those who live there). So I started researching vacation spots a bit further south and found the jackpot: Charleston, South Carolina.
There are tons of little boutique hotels to be found, but my favorite (judging from the website, of course) is the Andrew Pinckney Inn. Their Babymooners Package package features:
- Deluxe accommodations for two nights
- Off street parking included
- Non-alcoholic champagne and chocolates delivered to the room on the day of arrival
- $100 gift certificate to Mercato restaurant
- $100 gift certificate to Stella Nova Salon and Spa for a service(s) of your choice.
- Freshly baked cookies each afternoon with gourmet tea and coffee
- Deluxe continental breakfast served on the rooftop terrace overlooking the market.
This package (according to the website) is $568, which looks like a great deal considering it's 2 nights at the Inn, plus $100 for dinner, $100 at the spa, and full breakfast both days. It's also a lot cheaper than some of the other babymoon packages I looked at (some upwards of $2,000!). Hmmmmm.... and just look at how adorable this place is:
This is one of those things I'm going to tuck away until I have a need for a babymoon.... in the mean time, anyone else do a babymoon? Thoughts? For those without a kid, where in the US have you been that you totally loved? We're adding places to our list and want to start crossing them off!

I love Charleston and that place looks beautiful! We didn't do a babymoon, but having a baby now, my advice is do it!! Those quiet dinners and movies are a thing of the past for at least a little while once you have kids!
We have driven almost the entire PCH and it should be a destination on your list for sure. (Although not while preggo. I had to pull off the road WAY to many times) :)
How about Southport, NC? The hosts are very hospitable, the landscape is beautiful and the beach awesome. Price can't be beat!!

Ohh, I've been meaning to look into charleston for a getaway, I'll have to look into that one for the hubby and I (though he'll wonder why I'm looking at babymoons!). I've done three different cross country trips with my entire family. The places I fell in love with the most were Colorado (all of it is gorgeous but we especially liked the Estes Park area) New England (MA, VT, ME were awesome), NY (both upstate in the fall and the city at Christmas), North Carolina (ashville in the fall), Mackinac Island (I may have spelled that incorrectly but it's an island right off of Michigan) in the spring-particularly during their lilac festival, lastly northern CA up into oregon/washington area is gorgeous too.
